Week 34

I am so excited to be 34 weeks!! It is hard to believe I am only three weeks from being full term. I am very glad though. The last few weeks have been a little rough. My feet are continuing to swell on a daily basis. I am having some lower back pain now and lower abdominal pain too. I thought maybe Gus had dropped, but I am not sure. I think I felt Gus have the hiccups for the first time the other night- it was quite interesting!

I feel like we are mostly ready for him to be here. This morning Josh told me he was ready for Gus! I have the diaper bag packed for the hospital. Josh put the car seat in the car this afternoon- I will take a picture of that in the next few days. I have started getting our stuff for the hospital ready. I look forward to my next Dr.'s appointment to find out how things are progressing!

Worry and Stress

Today I was thinking about worry and stress. What mainly brought it up was a mistake I made at work. I know I am only human, but it is still hard to deal with mistakes. It also doesn't help with being in a high stress job. It just makes me more excited about being a stay-at-home mom. But then there are also the worries of becoming a new mom! Will I know how to take care of my baby? Will I be able to deliver my baby naturally? There are so many unknowns. I just needed a reminder that God will give me the strength to get through each day, and He will never give us more than we can handle. We have had so many good things this year, but at the same time there have been lots of stresses as well. I thought it was a good time to review some verses to bring comfort.

Casting all your care on him; for he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

Psalm 23

Yet I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; O my God, do not delay. Psalm 40:17

Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Matthew 6:27

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:34

I hope these are an encouragement to you as they are for me. We have such a loving forgiving Savior.

Things I Enjoy

I always write posts when I have new pictures or a new recipe. Today I am doing one without either. I was just sitting here thinking about little things in life that I enjoy and love. I thought I would share a few: (these are not in order of importance!)

1. My sweet dogs- Samson and Bear. As I am sitting here Bear is at my feet, and Samson is snoring on the other couch. They are such wonderful companions, always happy to see me. They make me feel needed when they ask for food or need to go outside. Side note- I watched Josh take care of Samson when he first got him as a puppy and knew he was totally going to be a great dad. I know that sounds silly, but it is true :)

2. Dr. Pepper! I was very happy when I found out I could have some caffeine while I was pregnant because Dr. Pepper is like my daily treat. This morning I made a deal with myself that if I drank my liter of water I could go get a DP at sonic, sad I know, hah! When I was single and in school, getting a DP from my favorite place was sometimes the highlight of the day.

3. Hot Baths- there is nothing more relaxing than letting all the cares of the day go while taking a bath. They are a little more tricky now with a huge pregnant belly and swollen feet, but I love them!

4. Potato Chips and Fries- yes, I think I could live on chips and DP. I like lots of different kinds and also like to have different dips too. If I do not watch myself, I can sit down and eat an entire bag of Lays Limon chips. I have had lots of cravings for fast food while being pregnant, and now I am trying my best to keep them to a minimum as I have watched the scales go up and up!

5. Fresh Flowers- I love having flowers around the house. They make things just seem cheery and fresh. Josh buys me lots of flowers, and they are wonderful every time.

6. Anytime I get to spend with Josh- I know it is sappy, but we just love being together. It has not become old over our first year of marriage, and I often miss him while he is at work. He truly is my best friend and I am so thankful for him being in my life.

7. Feeling Gus kick and move- just as I was typing Gus kicked. It is the strangest sensation when you start feeling your baby move inside you. I constantly wonder how he is positioned and how big he is. I cannot wait until in just a short few weeks I get to hold him in my arms.

Ok, I think that may be enough for now. I think one of the best things in life is be excited and happy about little things. There are so many ways to find joy in each day. I hope this could be just a reminder to think about little blessings and things that make you happy.

Happy Anniversary and Week 32

Yesterday was our first anniversary!! The year went by so fast and was so wonderful. I am so blessed to be with Josh, I love him more everyday!! Here are some pictures of our life together:

This next year has even more exciting things in store for us!! On our anniversary we had some of our wedding cake which still tasted great :)
These are the beautiful flowers Josh gave me:

And, I am now 32 weeks!!!!! I am really counting down now until Gus gets here. Three of my friends had babies last week, and it made me even more excited about meeting Gus. I have been feeling pretty good, just tired. I have a lot of swelling in my legs and feet, but I am just getting used to it. I still feel him moving around a lot, and I think I may be feeling some BH contractions. Since this is my first time I am still not sure if it is Gus or a BH.

Nursery Updates

Over the last week I have been trying to get everything in the nursery ready for Gus! Josh washed all the baby clothes and we have been putting things in their place in his room. We also enjoyed putting all the gifts we received from the shower in his room.

I was very excited to get this rocker/seat from one of my friends, I think it is so cute and cannot wait to use it for Gus.

We bought some letters to put above Gus's bed. They were very hard to hang, but Josh did a great job.

This is a super cute diaper wreath my friend Kristen made me!

My cousin-in-law made me a diaper cake, I think she should make these to sell, she is so talented!

Here is a look at part of the room right now. We still have a few things we need to get and change, but it feels like a nursery when we go in there :)

We have a new quilt for the twin bed in Gus's room, but we haven't put it on the bed yet because we don't want the dogs to mess it up.

Baby Shower (Week 31)

Last weekend we took a trip to Dallas for our baby shower! It was a great weekend. We got to see several of our friends and lots of family!

My sister kept it a secret from me that she was going to be able to come, and my mother-in-law was able to come as well. Here is my sister, mom and mother-in-law

Here is my sister, aunt, and mom. You can see how huge I am at 31 weeks!

Here are a few pics of me opening gifts:

This picture is blurry, but Josh's mom brought his first suit, blanket and Winnie-the-Pooh for Gus , which is very special

The shower was so nice, and we got lots of things that we needed. It was fun to have another reminder of how it won't be much longer until we meet our little boy!
