Summertime

We have had some firsts over the past two weeks, although I'm just now getting to write about them.

Jack was 5 months old last Monday. I attempted to take pictures on Tuesday with little success. Some he is moving, some are blurry, just not a good photo session!

Jack officially sat up  on his own last Wednesday! He  loves playing and just can't wait to be able to run with Gus and Maddie.

He tried cereal once last week, but I gave it to him again today and he loved it! He ate the whole bowl that I fixed for him!

Yesterday we got the water table out in the backyard for the first time this year- it was a hit :)

(isn't this the cutest little girl!! )

Our garden is doing great!! We have lots of tomatoes that will soon be ripe. The cucumbers have lots of blossoms. I planted more lettuce so we will have some for the rest of the summer.

Spinach and Lettuce!

Maddie has started babbling a lot- I love hearing her talk!

Gus got a haircut today! He has grown so much over the last six months- and he continues to have such a sweet heart.

As I'm writing this the kids are playing in the water table, Jack is beside me in the shade, and I'm trying to get sun on my albino legs :) It's a nice summer day, and we are all enjoying it.

Family Celebrations

We traveled this weekend to my parents for lots of celebration!

We arrived Saturday, and that evening we celebrated Father's Day and my birthday! My parents, sister and family, and grandparents were all there. My family surprised me by celebrating my birthday early. My mom had my favorite birthday food- ice cream cake. I got some very fun gifts that were perfect for me.

That evening we walked to see my Dad's new pond on his property. Gus enjoyed throwing rocks into it. I took lots of pictures so I apologize!

Sunday was quite a day. We began the morning by going to my sister's church. My sister's son was dedicated. We felt privileged to be able to celebrate his precious life with them. We went and had Mexican food for lunch.

I pray as I do for my own children for this precious boy :)

Later that afternoon we drove to East Texas for my cousin's wedding. We were also happy to be able to celebrate with him and his family. I was able to see almost all of my Dad's side of the family, and I was happy they were able to see the kids.

3 Adults, 4 Kids- Full loud car!

This weekend reminded me yet again of how blessed I am by my family. I love them all so much and they all bring such joy into my life.

Adventures

This last weekend we had lots of rain and some storms. We actually had the tornado sirens in town go off. It was the first time that has happened since we have lived here. Thankfully we have a storm shelter under our shed. So we hurried and headed out there to crawl down in- with 3 kids and 2 dogs. We were down there for about 45 minutes. We weren't really scared because we had watched the news up until we got down there.

We enjoyed lots of family time this weekend and had some friends over.

Our garden is doing well! We have had a lot of radishes and some spinach! All the rain has really helped the plants flourish.

And I introduced the kids to a fun song, and they like it :)

Grandparents Visit and Our Day-to-Day

I can't seem to blog very often these days. I am using Instagram more and more- so if you aren't following me there yet I would love for you to! @mrscatieh

Last weekend my grandparents came up to visit! We all waited on the porch to see them arrive :)

I had to take Jack to a doctor's appointment, and so they went with us to help me take all the kids since Josh had to work. My car was full! Jack weighed 15 lbs 13 oz- healthy growing boy! He charmed the dr with his sweet smile, and even gave the nurse a smile after his shots :)

On our way home, we were able to drive by my grandmother's grandmother's home! I loved hearing my grandmother's stories about when she was a little girl.

We had a wonderful time having them here. They used to live about an hour and a half away, and we miss them being so close. We were all thankful for the time we got to enjoy with them this visit.

This week I was a homebody! I got out today to take Josh some lunch and get the kids and I some too, but that was the first time I'd left the house since Sunday! I didn't plan on not going anywhere, but I didn't have anywhere I had to go. Jumping in the car to get a couple of things at the store is just not easy anymore. The kids do so well when we are just home and on our regular schedule. And Josh's pharmacy is at a grocery store, so when I need a couple of things he can just get them which is so nice! So, I've just been enjoying being at home doing regular stuff like cooking, cleaning, and watching the kids learn.

Jack rolled over from back to belly! And then he started doing it over and over! He loves to just be on his playmat and explore. He isn't crawling yet, but I know it won't be long. He also loves to suck on his fingers, especially his thumb

Gus and Maddie just keep learning little things. While we were driving last Friday, Maddie held Jack's bottle for him so he could eat in the car. So sweet! She has the most fun personality, and I just can't wait until she can tell me what she is thinking.

Gus just keeps growing in his ability to have conversation and getting taller!

Gus and Maddie are good buddies :)

And I love spending my days with my littles :)
