Maddie's Story

We are now a family of 4!!!! And it feels great :). How did it happen? Here's the story....

On Sunday November 18th, I noticed I was having contractions at around 8 am. They weren't painful, and I mainly noticed them because I watched my stomach tightening. I clearly remembered what my stomach looked like contracting when I was at the hospital with Gus. I didn't really try to time them yet. But, I tried to stay active, made a quick trip to the grocery store and went for a walk. My mom had arrived at our house the day before, so we didn't have to worry about Gus. I started trying to time them later in the afternoon, and some of them were closer together. Around 6, Josh and I decided to go on to the hospital. Since we live 100 miles from it, we wanted to be on the safe side. I got there and they monitored me for an hour. I wasn't very progressed , and Monday was the 39 week mark so they couldn't induce me yet. We stayed at a hotel and were going to see what my Dr said at my appointment the next day.

On Monday morning I did major power walking at the mall, I did not want my Dr telling me to go back home at my appointment later that afternoon. Luckily, she decided to induce Tuesday morning. We started at 7 am with pitocin. At 10:15 the Dr broke my water (doesn't feel good!). I had wanted to try to make it without an epidural, but 30 minutes later I was very ready for one. I hadn't had a good experience with my epidural with Gus, but this one was great. Around 3:30 I started feeling something different, and by 4 pm, it was time to push. I pushed twice with my nurse, then she had me stop and wait for the dr to get there. After the Dr was there, it only took 2 contractions of pushing and Maddie was here!!!!! She came out screaming and looking so much like her brother except for lots of dark hair. The whole thing was such an easier experience than with Gus.

I started crying when I saw her. I was so happy to meet my little girl.

She was 7 lbs, 12 oz, and 19.75 inches long. She had chubby cheeks and was holding her head up on her own the next morning.

My parents brought Gus to meet her. He didn't like the hospital and wasn't sure about Maddie.

It is always amazing to get to hold your new baby :) Words can't describe......

And the pink has begun :)

Still Here! Still Pregnant

Hi there! I'm still around..... still very pregnant and you probably won't see another picture of my HUGE belly. What have I been doing? Eating! I wish I wasn't hungry for sweets all the time. I keep making desserts I find on pinterest, like these Peanut Butter Truffles:

Or these white chocolate peanut butter crispies:

And then I eat all that I cook, make it stop!!!

My freezer is full of food, so I can't make anything else. I am so ready for my sweet baby to be here!

We are very excited to have a new camera! We haven't had it long, so we are just starting to figure out how to use it. I know it is going to take some wonderful pictures of Gus and Little Miss.

And hopefully I'll be able to share that our Little Miss has joined us very soon. Until then, I guess I will keep cooking and eating :)
