Maddie- One Month

Maddie,

Can you really be one month old??? You are already growing too fast :) It seems like you came into the world just last week.
We had a Dr's appointment for you last week, and you weighed 8 lbs 12 oz- up a lb since you were born. I can tell your face is getting chubbier already. You also had grown an inch in length.
You are still wearing newborn clothes, but I put you in a few 0-3 clothes even though they are a little big. You are wearing size 1 diapers.

You eat 3 oz every 2-3 hours. You are sleeping pretty good at night. You usually sleep from 11-3:30, then from 3:30- 5 or 6. I put you in bed with us fairly often, I enjoy cuddling with you :)

You looked just like Gus when you were born, but you now look more like your own person! Your hair still looks a little brown.

You could hold your head up pretty well the day after you were born just like Gus. Daddy put you on your tummy when you were six days old and you rolled over to your back!!! You did it several more times, and he got it on video so people would believe him :)

You sometimes get mad when you want to be held or just in the evenings and you are quite the screamer.
I have had so much fun with you already. I could sit and hold you all day long.
Your brother loves you too. He asks about you and checks on you. He gives you hugs and kisses and gets your pacifier for you. Sometimes he tries to put it in your mouth and that doesn't go over very well.
Your Daddy loves to dance with you. I know that the two of you are going to have a special relationship. He's not sure how he could ever discipline his precious little girl. :) He also enjoys teaching you your numbers just like he did Gus.
You are beautiful
I love you baby girl,

Mommy

My Wubbanub

Gus loved his wubbanub. He had a puppy first and then a giraffe. We ended up calling it his "puppy."

Maddie loves hers too. She has the lamb. I still find myself calling it a "puppy."

These are amazing inventions. Maddie could push hers back in her mouth only a few days after she was born.

These are a must have for new babies!!

Sorry I've been so behind. The one time I tried to blog it wouldn't let me load pictures. I'm still figuring out how to juggle two kids, but it's going good :)

Catching up

I have wanted to blog so many times, but I can't see to find a few minutes to get it done. I would rather sit and hold Maddie :) But, I don't want to forget things, so here are some iphone pictures I wanted to share of a few things that have been going on!

This is the morning I went to the hospital to have Maddie- I was so excited :)

Maddie meeting my parents- Big Daddy and MiMi:

Gus has some new houseshoes- they jingle too :)

My family on Thanksgiving- couldn't be more perfect!

MiMi brought a gingerbread house to make with Gus. We all had fun putting it together, and the candy sure tasted good

She often wins the battle and ends up sleeping in bed with us...

Maddie's first trip to our favorite Mexican food restaurant:

Gus is a good big brother keeping an eye on Maddie

Maddie's first trip to the mall!

Maddie's first bath- she actually liked it for a little while although you wouldn't know from this picture!

My grandparents came to visit. Maddie is quite bright-eyed to meet PawPaw.

Another trip to eat Mexican food, and I try to keep Gus entertained
My sister and her new little boy and my MawMaw

These first few weeks have been really good. Maddie isn't sleeping great, but she is doing better than Gus did. We have been so blessed. Josh had lots of time off from work and my mom was able to come stay with us too. Several friends have already brought us dinner, and we have dinners coming next week too!! It makes things so much easier for me not having to worry about cooking. I can spend more time cuddling my little girl, because I know she won't be little long. I'll try to get more on here soon. Life is good :)

Maddie's Story

We are now a family of 4!!!! And it feels great :). How did it happen? Here's the story....

On Sunday November 18th, I noticed I was having contractions at around 8 am. They weren't painful, and I mainly noticed them because I watched my stomach tightening. I clearly remembered what my stomach looked like contracting when I was at the hospital with Gus. I didn't really try to time them yet. But, I tried to stay active, made a quick trip to the grocery store and went for a walk. My mom had arrived at our house the day before, so we didn't have to worry about Gus. I started trying to time them later in the afternoon, and some of them were closer together. Around 6, Josh and I decided to go on to the hospital. Since we live 100 miles from it, we wanted to be on the safe side. I got there and they monitored me for an hour. I wasn't very progressed , and Monday was the 39 week mark so they couldn't induce me yet. We stayed at a hotel and were going to see what my Dr said at my appointment the next day.

On Monday morning I did major power walking at the mall, I did not want my Dr telling me to go back home at my appointment later that afternoon. Luckily, she decided to induce Tuesday morning. We started at 7 am with pitocin. At 10:15 the Dr broke my water (doesn't feel good!). I had wanted to try to make it without an epidural, but 30 minutes later I was very ready for one. I hadn't had a good experience with my epidural with Gus, but this one was great. Around 3:30 I started feeling something different, and by 4 pm, it was time to push. I pushed twice with my nurse, then she had me stop and wait for the dr to get there. After the Dr was there, it only took 2 contractions of pushing and Maddie was here!!!!! She came out screaming and looking so much like her brother except for lots of dark hair. The whole thing was such an easier experience than with Gus.

I started crying when I saw her. I was so happy to meet my little girl.

She was 7 lbs, 12 oz, and 19.75 inches long. She had chubby cheeks and was holding her head up on her own the next morning.

My parents brought Gus to meet her. He didn't like the hospital and wasn't sure about Maddie.

It is always amazing to get to hold your new baby :) Words can't describe......

And the pink has begun :)

Still Here! Still Pregnant

Hi there! I'm still around..... still very pregnant and you probably won't see another picture of my HUGE belly. What have I been doing? Eating! I wish I wasn't hungry for sweets all the time. I keep making desserts I find on pinterest, like these Peanut Butter Truffles:

Or these white chocolate peanut butter crispies:

And then I eat all that I cook, make it stop!!!

My freezer is full of food, so I can't make anything else. I am so ready for my sweet baby to be here!

We are very excited to have a new camera! We haven't had it long, so we are just starting to figure out how to use it. I know it is going to take some wonderful pictures of Gus and Little Miss.

And hopefully I'll be able to share that our Little Miss has joined us very soon. Until then, I guess I will keep cooking and eating :)

Happenings

This is going to be a random post.

Josh and I voted!

Ok so this may be a little crazy, but I got really excited about finding a specific cleaning tool I had been looking for. I have a hard time keeping our toilets looking clean because of the water. I found this "Pumie" stick and was excited to give it a try. (I wore gloves). I scrubbed, and you can see how one side is so much cleaner, and it didn't take long at at all. Yay for things looking cleaner :)

It was colder here this weekend, so we had a fire. I love it!

We have some big pecan trees, and Josh picked up some for me. I have spent lots of time cracking them since then. Pecan pies, pralines, oh what yummy things I want to make.

Gus helped me.

Saturday night we needed to get out of the house, Josh took us to a nearby town to Dairy Queen. It satisfied my need for ice cream and peanut butter!!

Samson's space in the backseat is getting smaller and smaller.....

Other fun activities- playing in the laundry.

The dogs likes just keeping warm together.

This is Gus dressed up to go to McDonalds.

He had fun with his friends. At one point, he and another one of the little boys thought they were really big boys and sat at their own table.
And the rest of the time we are waiting and waiting for our new little addition to get here :)
