For over a year I have been looking forward to this month! Josh and I celebrated our 5th anniversary, and we took a trip without the kids!
We drove down to my parents and stayed there for two nights. So sad watching the Dallas Cowboys lose :( Here are the kids ready to load the car!
PawPaw introduced Jack to his beloved Mountain Dew (not really :))
Homemade Fudge with Big Daddy
MawMaw and PawPaw (my grandparents)
Animals of Africa with Big Daddy and cousin Matthew
Then we left the kids with my parents and headed to San Antonio for our anniversary trip. It was a wonderful trip!!!! We didn't have a strict schedule. It was great. We stayed at an amazing hotel downtown. It was really cold and a little rainy so we didn't spend much time on the Riverwalk, but we had both been there before so we didn't mind. We went to a movie- Night at the Museum- which we enjoyed. We hadn't been to a movie at a theater in probably 3 years. It was on my list of things to do :) We ate lots of good food. And we shopped and shopped and shopped. We spent one whole day at a very nice outdoor mall. My wardrobe was really lacking after having 3 kids in 4 years, but we fixed that. :) We were gone 3 nights, and that was just the right amount of time. I planned to take more pictures but I just didn't think about it. We had to stop at the Alamo just for a quick picture of course.
And I have pictures of the kids while they were with my parents:

We drove back to my parents house, and the next day was our actual anniversary and Jack's first birthday!!! It was fun to be able to celebrate with my parents, grandparents, sister and her kids. We got the cutest cake and cupcake.

The last day we had lunch with one of Josh's roommate's from pharmacy school and his fiancé. We went to Northpark in Dallas (one of my favorite places in the world). The kids had a lot of fun there. We saw the ducks, went to the Disney store, and then got cookies.
The last night of our visit we made brownie sundaes- they were a hit!
Exhausted driving home..
Since we have been home it's been a bit of a whirlwind. But we are spending a nice snowy day inside today and getting caught up.
I don't think I would have ever guessed that on our 5th anniversary we would have a 3, 2, and 1 year old, but they are the biggest blessing to us. And I love my sweet husband more each day. I'm so thankful each day that he is in my life and that he picked me to be his wife. I love being married to him and look forward to the rest of our life together- it just keeps getting better.
