Countdown

18 days left until Gus is due........ and everyone one of them feels like a year! I am so ready to meet my little boy!! As of my 37 week appointment with the doctor no progress yet. I have to admit I was a little depressed hearing that since yesterday I felt absolutely horrible. My entire body enjoys swelling up, my blood pressure has gone up, and I am anemic. BUT, I know it is all going to be worth it in the end. Today he seems to not be quite as active, but maybe he was just tired like his mommy. I have decided no more picture because when I see pictures of myself now I just get more depressed at how HUGE I look. On a positive note, I did lose 5 lbs of fluid between my last two dr visits which was very exciting- yes I am that swollen :) I have been feeling a lot of pressure, but I am not sure about the contractions yet. (of course I don't know what they are supposed to feel like either!) I just keep praying for patience and a healthy baby. And, he will eventually be here- it is hard to wrap my mind around.

This weekend the ladies at our church threw me a baby shower. I was surprised that they did this for me, since we haven't been at the church very long. It was so kind of them!!! I was overwhelmed :) There were probably over 30 ladies there, and they just showered us with so many gifts and diapers. This little boy of mine is going to be so spoiled and well dressed. Here is a picture of Josh with everything after we got home:

Some of our close friends just had their little boy over a month ago. It has been so much fun to hold him and watch him grow, and to know it will be my turn very soon. He is such a precious little boy:

My husband got me the most beautiful flowers for Valentine's Day. Our first date was actually on Valentine's two years ago. When he gave me the flowers on our first date- he said, "Every girl deserves flowers on Valentine's day." He put that on my card this year too. He is so sweet to me :)

I think I will end with the things I cannot wait for after Gus gets here:

1) Wearing normal clothes again: I haven't been able to get in any of my regular clothes for probably 4 1/2 months. I am so tired of my maternity clothes!

2) Wearing all my shoes: I only have one pair of shoes I can fit these elephant feet in (when it is warm enough I sometimes can wear flipflops)

3) Being able to bend down and get up, and put my clothes on easily

4) Not have to go to the bathroom constantly

I will stop with that today. Hopefully the next time I post my little boy will be here :) We will see!!!

Random Stuff

So, I don't have one theme for today. Just a few things to share.

Even though it has been extremely cold and snowy here the past few weeks, I have been wanting to get things for our house more for Spring. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted so I just started looking in different stores. So far these are the things I have bought to try to bring some color and brightness to our house.
I got these at World Market. Purple and green are my favorite colors. The candles also smell good! I think I would like to add something else to the coffee table, so I am still looking.

I also got these:
I already had the glassware from Christmas. These flowers are also from World Market. I loved how bright and colorful they are. Looking at stuff for the house also took my mind off of how PREGNANT I feel!!!
Josh put the car seat in the car last weekend. It is fun to see it back there.

I now have 31 days left!!!! I cannot imagine being pregnant that much longer. I have started having back pain which has not been much fun. At my last appointment my belly measured on schedule at 35 weeks, and the doctor said she thought that Gus weighted 5.5 to 6 lbs! My belly is sore all the time and my legs and face are still swelling. I am very ready to have this baby! Since he is so big it has been fun to watch my belly jerk and roll around. (although Gus was moving around so much last night while I was trying to eat that I had to wait on him to settle down :) I started feeling him in my ribs for the first time this week. I told him to just push off of them with his feet and head out ;) I know that our adventures together have just started, it is sometimes still hard to believe I am about to have a son.

Winter Food!

I have not been cooking as much lately, due to working and being busy and my being tired! But last night, Josh and I both wanted something for dessert and had to get creative. Back at Christmas time I made a lot of pumpkin bread and had put a loaf in the freezer. I pulled it out the other day to snack on (like I need to eat more and put on more pounds!) Josh had the idea to make bread pudding with the pumpkin bread! We found a recipe in our Betty Crocker recipe book and used the pumpkin bread. It tasted amazing! (By the way, I highly recommend this cookbook- Better Crocker Cookbook (Bridal Edition). I got it when we got married and almost all of the recipes taste great!

This morning I made some potato soup for Josh for lunch. I make potato soup quite often, but this morning I made a few changes to the recipes I found. I didn't have any chicken stock, so I first had to find a recipe without it. I did have chicken bouillon cubes which took care of that issue. I think that chicken bouillon cubes is a good thing to keep in the pantry, because you never know when you might want to make soup, etc. I also added bacon and dill to the soup. Josh enjoyed it, and I put half of it in the freezer for after the baby comes. I haven't planned a lot of meals to put in the freezer yet, but I have a few things in there I can use.

Do you have a new favorite recipe? I am always looking for new ones!
